Previously known as Tallawanta Hotel, construction on Harrigan’s Irish Pub and Accommodation began on the 27th January, 2000 – with the doors being officially opened on 21st April that same year.
Named after a song from the musical Yankee Doodle Dandy which was written by George M Cohen, (a young Irish man living in New York in the 1800’s) – Harrigan’s lends itself to authentic décor of traditional wrought iron, stone work, wood work and paintings. There are many sayings displayed throughout the property quoting the traditional Gaelic language: take for example “Cead Mile Failta” meaning” which translates to “a hundred thousand welcomes”.
Harrigan’s Hunter Valley has undergone a major renovation, including the creation of a fully refurbished bistro, new lounge bar area, sports bar and indoor/outdoor VIP area. The new outdoor extension encompasses the terrace dining space, outdoor bar, alfresco dining area and our new Harrigan’s Burger Bar.
The refurbishment has given Harrigan’s a great new contemporary look while staying true to its rustic roots with fireplaces, booths and other charming architectural features. Our beautifully renovated spaces allow us to cater for sport enthusiasts, cocktail lovers and live music aficionados!
Harrigan’s offers family-friendly dining, whilst also a favourite with the live music crowd. We cater for all – and we look forward to welcoming you to the new Harrigan’s Hunter Valley.
